Chicago Audubon Society changing to Chicago Bird Alliance in a refutation of slaveholder John James Audubon – Chicago Sun-Times

“Our chapters believe that bird conservation should center birds and collaboration rather than celebrate a historical figure that is aligned with systemic racism,” said Judy Pollock, president of the Chicago organization. “We are happy to be part of a new group of chapters using this name.”

Renaming is more woke nonsense.

Viewing history through a contemporary lens unfairly tarnishes historic accomplishments.

Rewriting history is a fool’s game.

Didn’t know you’re a birder. You should download the Merlin Bird App on your phone. It’s a free app from Cornell that identifies birds by their calls, don’t even need a connection to the internet because it downloads the samples. Game changing app, there’s nothing else really like it.

Chicago needs more champions of literacy like Willie Wilson – Wirepoints

It’s rare to see city leaders in Chicago take an open, unabashed stance on the collapse of literacy. To complain is deemed as too political, too racist or too anti-public schools. So it’s refreshing to see Willie Wilson, a successful businessman and leader of the black community, call for a literacy initiative “with the goal of getting 100% of Black students reading at grade level.”
