Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

If Trump withholds federal funding from “sanctuary” city/count/states then JB and BJ will howl as they squirm in the swirling drain of their own financial toilet. Chicago financial collapse can’t come soon enough. Miss payroll once and the entire municipal bond market freezes up and Chicago’s credit card is cut off. An R House,Senate and White House won’t provide any federal bailout – the goal of CTU “First let’s get the money” – and The Tribune headline can say “Trump to City: Drop Dead”.
Chicago could pay a price? Wasn’t it Chicago’s favorite son, Barack Obama, who famously pointed out that elections have consequences? Mayor Johnson and his crew are about to find out that works both ways.
The price is NO FEDERAL BAIL OUT. You are on your own. Now get in line for the waive of higher taxes that is about to sweep your existence away like a tsunami. You were warned and chose to stay with the same broken ideas and leaders.
Trump doing the right things to correct the horror movie America morphed into the last 4 years, will certainly do them with much more finesse than his predecessor. Yet the left, celebrities, know nothing athletes and vapid talk show hosts will make him out to be an amalgamation of Hitler, Mussolini, Atilla the Hun and everyone else they can throw in the mix. Baby gets mad when denied it’s candy.
The irony is that most city residents would actually benefit from the removal of all illegal immigrants. For starter, rents would decline as apartments vacate as a result of deportations. Secondly, the number of students classrooms would be smaller, and there would be fewer ESL students, meaning black students would have more resources available in CPS. Thirdly, there would be less traffic on the road from all the illegals driving cars. Fourthly, all those migrants begging and selling chocolate with their truant school aged children would disappear back to Central America. Democrat typist Fran Spielman spelled it all out in the first lines of this piece, courtesy of Jason Lee, mayoral socialist: “A mass deportation that transforms a sanctuary city that has spent more than $440 million to welcome migrants.” Ms. Spielman and Jason, we already know that immigration law means nothing to the Democrat Party right now.
