Chicago crime: 457 cars stolen in a single week – FOX32 (Chicago)

Although slightly down from the same period last year, Ald. Jeanette Taylor emphasized that mere complaints are insufficient and action must be taken. "This safety plan isn't just on CPD and the city of Chicago. This is on all of us as neighbors," Taylor said.

It just confirms why my family and friends won’t set foot in Chicago…for any reason. We take our money elsewhere.

I love that these people are destroying their own communities by letting their children run wild. These aren’t outside invaders, or natural disasters, or a foreign army. It’s 17 year old kids in the neighborhood destroying the very fabric of society.

Was the car thief responsible for multiple people being injured held in custody or did the SAFET rules apply and he was released from custody so he could steal another car and go to the regularly scheduled gang meeting at the democratic precinct captains hall?

For sure he was let go, the question is what watered down charges did he receive. Can you prove he stole the car? No, then he’s charged with trespass to a motor vehicle which is essentially a traffic ticket. He probably also received some additional traffic tickets. He’ll walk, no jail time and good luck collecting on any civil judgement for damages. If we really had smart reporters they would ask Alderwoman Jeanette Taylor if she supported the law that changed possession of a stolen vehicle to trespass to a vehicle.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
