Commentary: Chicago crime rate the talk of other U.S. cities – Chicago Sun-Times

It’s a common, media-driven perception in Little Rock that Chicago is a terribly dangerous place, but the Arkansas city’s per capita homicide rate is actually worse than Chicago’s.

Here’s some info on crime stats around the world on a per capita basis.

Almost hard to believe the crime stats from Boulder where the average home value is over $800K

Filthy Liar Gene Lyons fails to mention that everywhere crime is out of control, democrats are in charge

I am always suspicious of data that is per capita. You drown the real results by a big population number to make your story look good. I am sure children, seniors, the handicapped, people with serious illness, those in nursing and veteran homes are not the real criminals. Another news outlet running from the truth with lies.

We no need to no nothing bout no fancy math to teach us bout dat scary Chicago.

Science and math can be scary. It must be like the black arts for many people with little grey matter. So instead they wallow in their own ignorance to make themselves feel better. Whatever makes you feel better just as long as you’re not afraid of your own shadow.

2019 FBI data, Chicago 25532 violent crimes, Little Rock 3009 violent crimes. Only 8.48 times higher chance of having a violent crime committed to person. That is scary!

Are you seriously this dumb or just pretending? You shouldn’t dabble in the black arts of math and statistics if you have zero understanding. It’s too bad you get to vote along with the educated.

Maybe move to East St. Louis. I think they only had around 200 violent crimes. Sounds much safer than Chicago.

It’s a common misconception because so many people believe the hysterical media that crime is rampant. Old people in the suburbs complain about crime while never leaving their sofa. Most of these people are afraid of their own shadow. Peoria has a greater crime rate compared to Chicago yet the suburban knuckle draggers whine as if Chicago is different than other large cites. Go eat your free samples at Costco and live in constant fear. The rest of us will live in one of the greatest cities on the planet.

Dear LoriLOLZ,

Suburban Cook County last year had its highest murder rate since the gang/crack wars of the 90’s.

Stats and math is scary. Record high murder rates in the suburbs are crazy. I live in the suburbs and there have been half a dozen murders with a 3 mile radius of my house when there are usually 0-1.

Go back to Cap Fax with your lies and fake news.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
