The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Chicago federal court, seeks class-action status on behalf of drivers who have fed the ubiquitous ParkChicago machines lining city streets, alleging the 75-year agreement has led to higher parking rates, too many meters and restrictions on alternative transportation such as bicycles and ride-sharing.
And then there is the problem of trying to dispute a parking ticket issued wrongly. There are so many hoops to jump thru it’s almost impossible. An acquaintance of mine lives in Pecotonica, Illinois, west of Rockford. His daughter had to take her nurses licensing exam in Freeport, Il about one hour further west and about 3 hrs from Chicago. He just received a violation notice for an unpaid citation issued on the daughter’s car on the day she was in Freeport. A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

Just don’t pay it. They’re just as unlikely to come to Pecotonia to collect $75.00
They go to Springfield and take the money from your tax refund instead.
Unpaid parking tickets can lead to your drivers license being suspended as well as the money taken from any state tax returns due.
