Mayor Johnson has insisted that Chicagoans support his strategy of raising taxes on businesses and wealthier people in the city. He told reporters, "The pressure that government has put on working people in this city has been incredibly severe."

“Working people” must refer to public employees facing layoffs and their stress is clearly warranted.

Of course public employees will be facing layoffs. Unless Chicago led by Brandon Johnson can become the first entity in history to solve a massive financial problem without cutting labor costs.
