Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Illinois and Chicago are screwd!
The census results are so inaccurate it is ridiculous. There was such an emphasis to count any person they could in Cook County in the 2020 census that comparison to 2010 is meaningless. JB gamed the system, just like he did when he ripped out his toilets to evade real estate taxes. The whole thing is a joke.
The strong parts of the state are growing. Rockford, Aurora, Springfield and Peoria all declining. All of these places are more affordable than Chicago, yet they declined while Chicago increased. Apparently the economic center of the state is doing just fine and it’s the hillbilly areas that need to address their population loss.
