Chicago is closing its biggest tent city but comes up short on promised apartments – WBEZ (Chicago)

City officials say they found 63 units for people in Humboldt Park’s encampment. They say that’s the most ever for a Chicago tent city. Ald. Jessie Fuentes said last week that 30 households had moved in. Another 33 awaited only some paperwork. Approximately 25 others would be offered beds in a homeless shelter.

With this lot, “It’s always somebody else’s fault…”. If they were *serious*, these two druggies could avail themselves of a Salvation Army residential/recovery program. Yes, the program is strict, requiring hard work, but the SA programs are very successful in getting people “back on track”. But since these two feel sorry for themselves and thus refuse to take responsibility, they will continue to rot… I’ve ZERO sympathy for them…

Many of the homeless are drug addicts or just too plain lazy to get jobs. When offered help, they want it on their terms and to fit their personal stipulations. I really don’t care if they move away or freeze.
