Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. This thread sort of explains while Illinois is such a crap hole, the voters attend sports games vs their city council, township, county board, park district and water district meetings(if applicable).

I used to love Illinois sports teams. I was even a Bulls season ticket holder. I’ve caught a home run ball at Wrigley. I loved to tailgate at da home of da Bears.
Now I see them all as a distraction from the real issues. I must be getting old, because I feel like I’m turning into a wet blanket, and that Illinois has a lot to do with it.
I’m eager to get the hell out of here, simply because it is affecting my psyche.
