Much like the nature of the 2015 Reparations Ordinance itself, the curriculum — which Chicago requires in seventh or eighth grade and tenth grade classrooms — goes beyond just teaching about history. Teachers can request a survivor of police torture to come and speak to students through Chicago Torture Justice Center, a support center created under the ordinance. And along with talking circles, or discussion groups, the curriculum prompts students to reimagine what public safety could look like, perhaps without police.
This story describes something so ridiculous I can not even believe it. Why in the world would that be necessary, except to create division and hate between children in the class. What the hell is going on here? Where did all the adults go? Tennessee I guess…

Maybe the class could include some Illinois trial lawyers asc reps to show up, hand out cards, and get the kiddies going early filing lawsuits against cops on taxpayers dime??

Why not bring in crime victims, the tourists who gets a bat in the back of the head and can’t walk anymore, just for a cellphone, the kid who gets shot sitting in a car,and has to piss in a bag for the rest of thier lives, the parents, and kids of cops killed in the line of duty. I’m sure they would have great stories to tell about Chicago. There are a lot of stories like that, that just get forgotten over time.

In an ridiculously short school year, articale states @ Kenwood Acc its a 4 WEEK COURSE!! Crazy!!, —” a four-week unit on Chicago’s history of police torture”. But i’m sure this class will prepare the ever dwindeling crop of “systemically disadvataged black & brown kids” to compete in real world?

I hope they will also discuss how Crimes may be painted in schools as excusable due to ‘systemic racism’. If Illinois Dept. of Public Education portrays crime as excusable, is Hate Crime an excusable category? Or is Hate Crime tolerable as long as it is committed by people-of-color against non-people of color? Here is a crime demographic which cannot be attributed to systemic racism: It is Hate Crimes in Chicago. https://home.chicagopolice.org/statistics-data/data-dashboards/hate-crime-dashboard/ See section entitled “Offender Demographics” It states that 15% of Chicago hate crimes were committed by Hispanic, 35% by White, 58% by Black. According to US Census https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/chicagocityillinois Chicago… Read more »

I was going to say they should be required to learn about broken homes and life on the streets – but they already are well schooled in that arena.

My favorite line:
“They say: I can’t wait to vote, or they start doing things within the school to kind of move the needle a little bit.”
So, Democrats, responsible for all of the city and state’s ills, are indoctrinating students to vote Democrat early and often. Through teaching them about 30 year old torture allegations from a Democrat cop in a 100% Democrat precinct.
Democrats: The cause of, and solution to, all of Chicago residents’ problems.

Does anyone else see the problem with this?
