Mayor Brandon Johnson cites differences on migrant response for failure to pitch in on latest state, Cook County funding plan – Chicago Tribune/MSN

The mayor hinted at differences among state and local leaders on how to respond to the crisis — including the ongoing strife over who should be in charge of the mission to house and feed the asylum-seekers. Johnson said when pressed about the lack of a financial commitment from the city, “It’s not just about financial resources. As I’ve said before, right now the city of Chicago is solely responsible for providing emergency temporary shelter. … Remember the state, they’ve committed to 2,000 beds back in November? Do you remember that?”

JB doesn’t like it when everyone doesn’t get in line, and BJ’s petulant child act is likely wearing thin with Jabba. It’s fun when they eat their own.

Never in history has a civilization offered housing, food, medical care, cash and depression screening to an invading army.

Excuse my language: WTF????

Is this set of poor people an Army? That’s not exactly how I see them and not even close to it. Nice try, though. Try having at least a hint of compassion. It’ll do wonders for your soul.

You have seen the demographic of the large percentage of the illegals crossing the borders??? Your compassion should invite them blindly into your home.

It’s not an army despite being mostly single men without their wives and children. THe invaders are mostly unarmed and have little in common with each other, other than maybe some of them speaking spanish. This invasion is something else, not really quite sure where it will shake out, but, I think that Europe’s situation is similar, but not exactly analogous to where we will be. The north african and middle eastern invaders came over several generations ago and now they form a permanent, and very expensive, underclass that commits nearly all the crime, has nearly all the children, and… Read more »

Not an army … yet. Wait until the gangs form and take over metropolitan areas.

And you’re right – we should look to Europe to see what our country is becoming. There are areas that function under sharia law – local law enforcement stays out.

The Obama-Biden era marks the end of something wonderful and the beginning of instability.

You’re right, the insability might be the formation of barrios or favelas or slums controlled by local gang warlords partially outside of the control of the local governments. Little Village or Back of the Yards might be able to become so out of control that the gangs administratively control the neighborhoods, and due to politics and the need for force, Chicago officials and the courts can’t control any sort of zoning or building codes or administrative. If they city tries to condemn a building there will be 20 gang soldiers stopping them from doing so. I think we are a… Read more »

Isn’t the point of conquest to take over the resources of and impose the conqueror’s culture on the conquered society? Why bother with an army when the targeted society submits voluntarily, or better yet, rolls out the red carpet in welcome?

Try taking the blinders off and see that we are being swamped with people that don’t speak English, and are thus pretty much unemployable, have dubious backgrounds, are of an age where they could be working in their home countries and are raking in all the taxpayer funded goodies promised by Joe and Kamala. A little common sense serves one well, unless he enjoys being a doormat.

I was simply objecting to using the term “Army” since that seems quite the stretch at present. “Round and round she goes. Where she stops NOBODY knows”.

At the present, it is stopping at the doors of the taxpayers.

My soul is just fine, thank you very much.

My compassion is spent on homeless citizens, poorly educated children, the ill, disabled and the voiceless. Not able-bodied invaders.

I want my taxes spent on improving American lives, not on destroying our country.

Me? I’m for everybody—humanity at large.. You’re not my soul concern lest you think otherwise.

Lots of thumbs down from people that would otherwise be out shoplifting, hanging out on the sidewalk drinking and harassing every female passersby or staging an impromptu boxing match. Must be the burst of snow that’s got them indoors.

Noticed the increase in down voting the last couple weeks.

Down votes for simple rational commentary.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
