Brandon Johnson, like all progressive mayors, is caught in this contradiction of urban governance in America; he cannot govern without accommodating the financial, insurance, and real estate (FIRE) sectors. But he cannot accommodate the FIRE sectors and build “the safest, most affordable big city in America.”
The circular thinking of this “Professor” is not logical. Does he not realize what combining environmentally sustainable, Chicago union labor, and Chicago government into the construction of anything does to its cost – just drives it through the roof. Every thinking Chicagoan knows that is the outcome. Makes one question the return on investment of sending your kid to Mount Holyoke.

It’s not a trap, it’s an opportunity to set the city on fire, metaphorically.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
