Helping the next opportunistic wave of (Democrats hope Democrat-voting) migrants from “oppressed” locations (Gaza, the Middle East generally, Mexico, all of Latin America, China, Africa, what, Afghanistan?) is not helping Chicagoans — and it is certainly not helping African-American Chicagoans. The CTU and the Democrat machine will run him again, and they calculate that with enough pressure and “get out the vote”/ “activist”/ “local pastor” outreach he will get re-elected. I still think they might be right; but he is pushing… Read more »

Enforcement isn’t something Johnson cares about. Spreading funds to cronies and playing the race card are his specialties.

BJ, simply shut up. The only people who might be afraid are those who have violated the law. You know what? It’s appropriate they are afraid: THEY BROKE THE LAW.

The mirror is a harsh mistress, BJ, stop advocating for willful disregard of the law you freaking goof.

Is he stoned? I admit that isn’t the most intelligent response to Brandon’s latest pronouncement but it’s the kindest explanation I can think of for the idiotic statements he makes.

Oh my gosh, Chicago has to be the laughing stock of America now. Does anyone in Chicago realize that, and do they even care?

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
