Chicago mayor floats idea of sending migrants to suburbs – Center Square

"We've had conversations with mayors across not just Cook County but the surrounding counties, and we have had tremendous feedback," Mayor Brandon Johnson said. "Here's what I am committed to doing, honoring the law of being a sanctuary city and building systems of care that provide a pathway with dignity for individuals who are seeking refuge here in the city of Chicago."

“Tremendous Feedback”…?

More likely it was tremendous ‘Pushback’…

So Brandon…tell us more about this law that says you can harbor and traffic illegal aliens. It must supersede US Code 8 1324 right? If im being honest. Govs and mayors across the country that facilitate this should be in jail. If I’m being really honest the death penalty should be considered. This is the subversion and destruction of our country. Otherwise known as policy in Illinois.

The constitution is merely a piece of paper to these folks, it means nothing.

“Here’s what I am committed to doing, honoring the law of being a sanctuary city” Can someone explain what that law is? Personally I hope my formerly red city/county gets some, I want these people to really see what they voted for.

If your a migrant advocate why even wait for CTU/Brandon, just load up your car or charter a bus and drop off a load of ‘new arrival’ migrants at police station in Winnetka or JBs gov mansion in Springfield…they can’t deny services

Woodstock property tax rates are 3.6% of full fair market value, largely due to the Woodstock CUSD 200 spending beyond the means of the community for 2 decades. The aberrant property tax rate makes homes lose value annually, and rental properties must charge aberrant high rents to account for paying 300% property tax rates of most other communities in America and even Illinois. Woodstock median Income Households in Median Valued homes must pay above 9% of household income toward property taxes, compared to below 4% all over America and… Read more »

What suburbs? What mayors?

Until Brandon names the mayors that are giving tremendous feedback this is simply talk. Maybe Evanston is excited for the wonderful opportunity to have a huge homeless problem, but I doubt there are many others.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
