Chicago monument committee won’t recommend Christopher Columbus statues’ return, sources say – Chicago Tribune/MSN

"...(I)f the Mayor moves forward and reinstalls the Columbus statue, it seems to me that she is making that decision unilaterally, yet our names as a committee will inevitably be attached to that decision,” Northwestern University art professor Michael Rakowitz wrote. “While I have not been present for the conversations with communities, I cannot imagine that this is what we would have decided as a committee. In my view, this is not OK in terms of process and reduces our ‘report’ to a symbolic illusion of process.”

Who do they recommend? Crock of refuse. Show me ANY historical figure who is without their warts… None exist. It is our nature to be flawed.

This entire sham is about replacing your historical figures with their own. Because they are now in charge and you are not. Your new leaders don’t share your history, or values, or beliefs. They see you as the colonizer, the occupier, the enemy. They just changed the completely neutral name of your most iconic street to that of an intersectional hero, because they can. Because the name Lake Shore Drive had value. And they took that from you because they hate you. Revolutionaries and invaders tend to do this when they take power in new lands.

Let’s just get it over with and rename the city New Michoacán – after both the region most of our latinks residents emmigrated from, and also, after the brutal drug cartel that terrorizes the region.

Can we put up a statue of a native with a bone through their nose brutally sacrificing a child to appease their gods or are we pretending the natives were peaceful, noble victims still?

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
