Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Yeah, right … what an absolutely STUPID idea: NASCAR racing in the middle of a metropolitan area. Summer is short and now a chunk of the city will be out-of-bounds for citizens while NASCAR sets up, races, and breaks down.

In 2023 I expect to see a car race of sorts to see who can drive out of Chicago, Cook County and Illinois the fastest.
