Chicago planted 18,000 trees this year with 33% going to neighborhoods with the highest need, officials say – Chicago Tribune/MSN

Chicago’s tree canopy decreased throughout the 2010s and falls short compared with other major cities. And during that lag, the city planted significantly fewer trees in neighborhoods on the South and West sides.

What about the rest of the trees that were purchased? They’ve planted 18,000, but without proper handling those hundreds, if not thousands, that remain unplanted will, if they haven’t already, die.

That’s your tax money folks – rotting in the cold. What a waste and what an example of poor planning by the City.
