Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Perhaps the CPD should give the city a taste of what a defunded police force looks like. Perhaps all CPD officers should be sent on mandatory vacation from now until one week after the Chauvin verdict is returned. When they return they can go out and fill in the reports which will then be put in the Kim Foxxx “Do Not Prosecute” folder. The chicagos woke residents will truly find out if this is what they want and if they want to continue to live in such a city.
Very hard to ban things people can carry to a protest, but one look at the Tribune’s pictures of the Toledo gathering you notice all the backpacks and bicycles. It looks suspiciously like the people are waiting for the peaceful assembly to become a battleground.

This case has me really pissed off. Not because of the kid dying, but because of the way people are reacting like this is a clear cut case of murder. For every 1 of these cases there are probably hundreds where that split second was a few milliseconds longer, enough to prevent the officer from having to pull the trigger first. My thoughts exactly! A 13 year old, out on the streets at 2:30am, with a gun! Where’s the parenting? But yet everyone rushes to judgment and blames the officer.
Apparently the 13 year old was known by the name “Lil Homicide”. Tragically, the name was a self fulfilling prophecy. And as Deb points out the uproar should be over the lack of parenting here.
