Chicago real estate markets poised for better days – Chicago Sun-Times*

"Yes, office rents are declining and vacancies rising. Tenants have leverage they haven’t enjoyed since the Great Recession. A spate of new office buildings started that, and the infection-recession inflamed things...The market is working as it should, and companies will respond as landlords cut deals."

Not the smartest Reply, TB. For those of us on the “outside”, we don’t know whether you’re stating that $50k for an Edison Park house is way too low or high. Thus your verbal slamming of Eddie is quite foolish.

My thought exactly while reading the article. I guess it is possible that the “woke” liberals are so deluded that they learn nothing from the events of this year. I think people “virtue signal” in public, but make different choices in private where their personal lives are affected. Exhibit A- elites sending their own kids to private schools.

“Deluded” is the nice way to state it. Nothing in the article about people wanting to leave the city for many reasons, not the least is the violent crime rate. Is it on purpose that it’s difficult or impossible to find the number for annual GUN SHOOTINGS each year? Yes you can find homicide/death total, but SHOOTINGS much be 10 times higher……..can’t find it !

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
