The board bucked the district’s guidance to fire a cook at Marquette Elementary School who allegedly waved a knife in the face of a fellow employee, other harassment, and repeatedly used offensive language on school property. This year’s shift to a 21-member, partly elected/partly appointed body has led to greater probing of district policies and decisions, underscoring emerging divides between members aligned with Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Chicago Teachers Union, those who are not, and those whose alliances are less clear.
And cue the hand wringing and finger pointing when said employee loses it one day and the school is ringed with police, EMT’s , social workers and violence interruptors.

‘Cuz its so normal for people to wave knives in the faces of other employees while at work, threaten them and use offensive language…happens every day. What’s the big deal? Its not like they misgendered someone or took down a rainbow flag. Absolutely, put them back on the job, payroll and pension program…because that’s who we should be hiring for these jobs and that who we want in schools with kids. These people are scary stupid. No Common sense.
