Chicago seeks central Illinois help with overflow of bused migrants – WGLT (NPR at ISU)

Northern mayors say it's not about their beliefs. It's about about logistics. Bloomington Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe said, for example, the community also would need to mobilize service providers to deal with an influx. “I would hope that prior to something like that happening, we would get a head's up,” said Mwilambwe. “As you know, I am an immigrant myself and I have been welcomed in this area. So, there is a culture and a tradition of being compassionate towards individuals who have needs. We’ll do the best we can."

I oppose massive illegal immigration.

I also oppose massive numbers of legal immigrants coming into the country as it floods the labor market and dilutes the culture.

When immigrants come in smaller numbers it forces them to assimilate into the existing American culture as opposed to living in ethnic enclaves where they simply maintain their culture from their previous country.

Immigration needs to be tightly limited to people with skills that we need. In fact, I would be fine with completely shutting off immigration altogether.

Sort of like Chicago relocating the Cabrini Green mess to other areas like Rockford. Rockford hasn’t recovered and probably never will.

This is a ploy to turn red parts of the state more blue. Never let a crisis go to waste!

No, Chicago’s (and Martha’s Vineyard, NYC’s, DC’s) ethnic cleansing of dark-skinned foreigners has nothing to do with their racism, xenophobia and white supremacy.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
