Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. So will City of Chicago sue Apple because so many of its I-phones are stolen everyday???
They did it wrong, they should go after these thug Kia and Hyundai “dealers”, or maybe start arresting Kia and Hyundai “users” because they were caught parking a Hyundai in Chicago. The sad part is some leftist judge somewhere will actually take this junk case to trial.
They tear down crack houses, because it is the house that is causing the crack problem.
That’s actually what the city did. As the former residents of the west and south sides fled neighborhoods with rising crime, they often just abandoned their homes. The abandoned homes became blighted party houses, crack dens, houses of prostitution or worse, and the city tore them down, one by one during the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s. That’s one of the main reasons why the south and west sides have so many empty lots, because the city tore down the crack house that used to exist.
Now that they did that, there is no more crack or prostitution or parties.
The houses caused the problem, not the criminals.
They sue the landlord, perhaps confiscate the building, rather than arrest the drug-dealers and their customers.
I gotta say at least they are not blaming it all on Trump
PEOPLE UNCLEAR ON THE CONCEPT: Johnson Blames Car Companies For Chicago Auto Theft Epidemic — REALITY CHECK: TRY BLAMING SOFT ON CRIME DEMOCRAT POLICIES INSTEAD
This can all be fixed if Kia & Hyundai make sizable campaign donations to the (D) politicians running Chicago (into the ground)…
I think the residents of Chicago (unless you own a Kia or Hyundai) should be thanking these automakers. The more Kias and Hyundais that are easily stolen means less cars carjacked.
Pretzel logic but entirely correct!
I think the city should sue McDonalds, Popeyes, WingStop, Coca Cola and PepsiCo for the related costs of all the fat people in the city.
…and forks.
Well, I don’t disagree with being mad at Kia Hyundai about this, nationally it certainly was a big deal and for those victims who lost their cars to this ridiculous mistake by the manufacturer should be compensated. But, ya know…this certainly isn’t the cause of the rise of crime in the City, Chicago politicians raised crime in Chicago. Consumers should be compensated…Chicago created the environment for this to flourish.
Let’s go after Gucci and Rolex and Adidas-n-Nike next. What the hell, they all make products that are valuable, and easy for crooks to steal.
All that smash-n-grab, people shot-n-beat-n-murdered, looting is their fault too, right?
Let’s go after Gucci and Rolex and Nike-n-Adidas too. What the hell, those are manufacturers that make valuable products which everyone knows are easy to steal.
All that smash-n-grab, people shot-n-gassed-n-beat & murdered looting. Cost Chicago a lot of money. Plenty of ‘victims’.
Ridiculous mistake on the manufacturer’s part. Should have known better.
Sue ’em……
Wow, completely wrong attitude here. I dont live in Lala land and think crime will never happen but the FULL responsibility is on the crooks. The car manufacturers didnt make a “ridiculous mistake” and they dont owe anyone. The criminals break into cars- crack open the steering column -and then have a modified USB to STEAL a car. The manufacturer put locks on the door!! That should be enough!! It’s not your’s, dont steal it. If you do, you go to jail and owe compensation to the owner. If I was kia and Hyundai I would counter sue the city… Read more »
