Chicago Board of Education member Norma Rios Sierra, who joined the school board in January after she was appointed by the mayor, threatened layoffs if aldermen did not approve Johnson’s plan to divert $1 billion in tax-increment financing funds to Chicago Public Schools. “If we do not get that TIF surplus, we’re going to be sending a lot of pink slips for Christmas, and we’re going to put it right back on you,” she told the council.
They’ve been getting paychecks for too long for little or no work. Hasta La Vista
Hello, Indiana!

Hey, go ahead and fire teachers that don’t show up for work a third of the time and don’t teach anyone anything when they do. Is that supposed to be a threat? As if kids sitting around all day socializing, playing sports and eating lunch without supervision would be much different than it is now? Please.

Like the main spring of a classic watch,
Illinois and Chicago are unwinding.
the mad rush to find more money for taxes
is all leading to the same destination.
Welcome to “ Harveyland”.When the state and cities find no way out, declare hey folks we are
financially distressed. Will the federal government
bail us out? Ok stop laughing, how’s about
the good citizens of the state or city, wait there is
hardly anyone left who can afford the taxes.
The conductor is shouting, this is the end of the line.
Good Luck!
Like some of the 1 in 7 people in this country on welfare showed us who they really are when “ that check “ de materialized, so will IL stomp it’s feet, hold it’s breath and throw a fit until Federal money saves the day.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
