"Political contributions buy political clout – and CTU isn’t going to let that go to waste. ... In the first part of the General Assembly’s current session, CTU supported 33 bills, and nearly 2 in 3 were enacted. CTU started touting its legislative wins as soon as the recent session ended."
Bribery. And precisely why Illinois taxpayers owe ZERO to the scum of Public Sector Unions Pensions. They are criminally ill gotten gains and the pensioners don’t deserve a red stolen cent.
It’s called campaign contributions and it’s perfectly legal and encouraged. Money is free speech as SCOTUS ruled. They also negotiate these contracts collectively, also guaranteed under the Illinois Constitution. They deserve EVERY penny that was negotiated by LAW. All legal and supported by the voters.
Just as voters in other elections, if members don’t like their union’s fiscal habits they are free to vote in different leaders. Instead, CTU continues to be quite effective at getting fair wages and benefits that satisfy their members. Ultimately, this is the number one thing that union members desire. Not everyone will agree on every issue but it’s this contractual success that satisfies the members. Proving they do matter.
Hmm, where’d the CTU get millions to grease pols?

Except it’s against the unions own contract to do this, proving members really don’t matter.
