Chicago Teachers Union Inc.: How the clout-heavy labor group spends its money – Chicago Sun-Times

As it geared up for a two-week strike last fall, the Chicago Teachers Union spent nearly $1.5 million from the dues it collects from members on lobbying and other political activity, a Chicago Sun-Times examination of the clout-heavy union’s finances has found. The money was on top of $1.2 million that the CTU’s two political action committees gave union-friendly candidates and political organizations.

And a union foundation has cut back sharply on the money it gave to charities and like-minded groups — to $1 million in 2018 from $1.9 million the previous two years. That’s according to the Sun-Times’ review of tax and campaign-finance filings as well as documents the union for the first time is required to file with the U.S. Department of Labor. Those offer a more detailed picture than previously has been available to show how the 24,000-member labor group spends its substantial wealth.

CTU is the most evil organization in Illinois. CTU has zero to do with education and everything to do with screwing taxpayers out of as much money as possible. The bottomless greed of CTU reserves them a special place in hell. Public Sector unions like CTU, AFSCME and SEIU must be made illegal in Illinois in order for Illinois to return to prosperity.

It takes a. Lot for an organization to out-evil the Illinois Democrat Party but CTU has achieved this dubious title.

Im not a trump fan but this articales thanks to trump administration’s enforcement of LMRDA, public sector unions are especially opposed, obama gave them a pass and didnt enforce. Wonder if any dues went to Friend of Madigan? https://www.the74million.org/article/union-report-more-bad-news-for-unions-many-may-have-to-disclose-their-finances/

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
