Of course, Chicago students can’t read because the MAGA anti-government Republicans who totally control the city government, the General Assembly, and every statewide office are determined to keep minority students in their place. How can they possibly fight back against a juggernaut like that? /sarc

Doesn’t Stacy Davis Gates send her freshman son to a Catholic school on the South Side. It’s the only smart thing she has done since becoming President. How about pushing for a voucher system for students. Show those Republicans they can’t pull one over on you.

When I read her comments or Rachel Maddow and Joy Behar saying Trump will lock them up, who is gullible enough to believe some of this? Especially when they say something that is so unbelievable that they lose whatever credibility they have.

Sorry, they were so incompetent they lost 77,000 school computers. No one was smart enough or to lazy to use the tracking system. What business would not fire and prosecute a loss like that. No worries, just have the taxpayers pay for new ones. We are the gullible ones for letting them get away with it.

They didn’t ‘lose’ the computers. They fully expected they would be stolen. That was the point.

Obviously Gates is correct about black children who grow into adulthood not being able to read. How else can she explain not paying her water bill for years and applying for a homestead exemption for her second home in Indiana when she was not eligible for this tax break?

The 2 CTU goons didn’t like that one Mark.

Clearly Davis-Gates and BJ are unbelievably bottomlessly racist. Is this indicative of most CTU members? Are they an aberration? Why would CTU members elect such klansmen as their leadership?

The problem is that the teachers she represents have not been teaching the students, but are still earning (and demanding more) unconscionably high pay.

PS– I doubt that the left-wing Ms. Gates can correctly pronounce or define “unconscionably”.

Ms. Gates– take your race card and shove it!

Stacey Gates talks like a black supremacist. I don’t know if she is or not but she talks exactly how a black supremacist would talk. She rambles on about black students. But CPS is only about 1/3 black. But latinks students are nearly half of the CPS population. What about the latinks population? But what about the 6% asian population? What about the 11% white population (of which a large % is actually MENA (middle eastern/north african)? Does she care about them at all? That’s where this all gets crazy, because she is a black woman in charge of a… Read more »

People that read extensively will become conservatives, and we can’t allow that

Not true. Here I am. Surrounded by a city full of fools and my tax dollars being stolen by the racist parasitic primordial scum of CTU.

Interesting comments from Ms Gates and, based upon her comments, the solution would be to return to the segregated school systems. I would guess then Ms Gates is a subscriber to George Wallace’s comments regarding segregation at his 1963 Governor inauguration in Alabama. Countless sums of money have been devoted to overcome Wallace’s theories and yet Gate’s disputes it all at the drop of a hat. Well Ms Gates your ideas of black schools with black educators naturally will lead to white only schools with white educators and might create unfavorable outcomes that you that you didn’t plan for. The CTU and political leaders in Chicago take the oath to keep kids from learning how to read. Their political platform is based on victimization, impoverishment and government dependency. If citizens became educated and had good employment opportunities, they would move out of the city. If that happened the CTU and the politicians would lose their political base and their careers. The politicians and CTU are perfectly fine with the status quo.

Since it’s liberal teachers that are in front of the classroom, it would seem that it’s liberals who want kids to be stupid, not conservatives. But liberals always claim conservatives are doing something that it’s actually the liberals doing.

Smoke and mirrors. She needs to look in the mirror and stop blowing smoke. We all know the problem but until it’s addressed (Wirepoints is trying) by the community in their votes nothing will change. The monopoly needs to be broken and the community needs education choice. Let’s see.how competitive CTU really is. Remember, they lost 77,000 computers and no investigation. They need a leader, not an activist.

I am glad to see the CTU is reading Wirepoints. I will say it again, you need a leader and not an activist.

So her CPD teachers are right wingers?

That would explain the reading and math scores.

Students can’t read because CTU teachers aren’t doing their job. 43% of Chicago teachers are chronically absent.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
