Chicago Teachers Union pushes kids to miss school for political rally, protest McDonald’s – Illinois Policy

"While the union claims students will 'greatly benefit from seeing this level of advocacy,' is calling for boycotts and labor stoppages more valuable than classroom instruction for struggling students? Why is CTU qualified to judge employers that their students and communities need?"

Uh oh……..looks like somebody is confusing a Democratic Party kickback and jobs mechanism with education again. When will they ever learn? Sigh…..

On the bright side the kids will learn how to hold signs. Maybe even spell some words correctly.

“incompetent, Marxist mess”?, NO, they are master hustlers taking you for every cent you got while masquerading as “new machine” faux marxist/socialists. In reality they’re no different than old school Madigan pay-to-play machine…..it’s state law w guaranteed not to be diminished contracts that set the stage for the endless taxpayer $hustle$. CTU’s just taking advantage. What other state allows public sector employees to purse politics, protest, lobby and negotiate for themselves at the taxpayers expense??

A couple of observations: -Teachers who claim their participation in a march “to march, protest and agitate” is a field trip for students get free buses paid for by CPS to transport their students, a value of probably at least $500. Should the schools be paying for, and allowing, class time to be spent on union activities? -The protest is billed as “stop the billionaire agenda”. Their co-conspirator, the Illinois governor who is currently trying his hardest to buy a presidential nomination, is a billionaire. Do they not see the irony? -The poster also directs union members not to consume… Read more »

Don’t expect common sense from people that cry for the head of Musk on a platter or shoot CEO’s in the back of the head yet rally around millionaires like AOC and Crackpot Bernie.

Maybe CTU should push reading, math and science, and actually do their job.

Absolutely despicable on so many levels…Is their any other state where you can purse your political agenda, lobby for your benefits, etc all on the taxpayers dime while being highest paid big city teachers nationally in a bankrupt Chicago? One can only assume all of are other public sec heroes will be demanding the same. Will CTU/Brandon show up for May 1 to rally with his CTU buddies? If he’s not to busy heroically equity hustling about the legacy of ‘community disinvestment’, city debt due solely to racist past, etc, etc all on the taxpayers dime in bankrupt Chicago….I’ll bet… Read more »

The biggest May 1 scam with are CTU equity hustlers and other public sector unions is they’re hijacking the legacy of those who fought for union rights in INDUSTRY, back when Chicago produced things, back when Chicago was the industrial capital of the world, back when Chicago was the envy of the world, to now bilking dopey taxpayers out of every last dime they got in machine Illinois. While it’s supposedly DT who’s fighting for what little is left of industrial manufacturing unions. …for me, DT is also peddling usury because I believe his trade war is a disaster, we’re… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
