Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Experienced air travelers do not fly on the first version of a new plane,
So to defeat the traffic to get to Chicago, you still have to fight the traffic to drive to O’Hare Airport.
Another idiot dream. Think how fast you can get to your final destination, you’ll be murdered as you exit whatever they stuff you into. More ass’s in seats is revenue.
“This is definitely the transportation of the future … it’s safe, sustainable, affordable, quiet,” Bryan Benhard, Archer’s chief growth and infrastructure officer, said. “It’s an aircraft that people will take instead of driving an hour to an hour [and a] half from downtown to [O’Hare] in 10 minutes at the cost of an Uber.” Except that we had “the transportation of the future” 60 years ago: https://www.thedrive.com/news/chicago-commuters-once-had-an-easy-affordable-way-to-beat-traffic-helicopters Chicago Commuters Once Had an Easy, Affordable Way To Beat Traffic: Helicopters “For mostly the cost of cab fare, well-to-do businessmen could take a helicopter into the city or to the airport in… Read more »
This article is laughable. My first thought is that it’s April Fools Day. Nothing about this makes sense. For starters, why would people take a taxi to the electric drone station so they could then go to the airport? So many reasons this will never work.
You’ll avoid the homeless nut jobs on the cta/el & road rage expressway shootings….or maybe if Brandon/ctu’s elected each air taxi will have to accommodate a couple homeless people because anything else wouldn’t be equitable
I’ll believe it when I see it. Is this a joke? Who in their right mind is going to get on one of these machines regulated by the City of Chicago Aviation Department? Or is it Metra? Or the State of Illinois DOT? Pritzker mopes who know nothing about transportation or City Council approved hacks who can’t spell ‘aviation’? United Airlines must have a couple of big requests pending before City bureaucrats to sign on to this story.
