Chicago Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin: Chicago will not help fund Donald Trump’s terror – op-ed – Chicago Tribune*

"Some suggest that by taking this stand, I’m somehow turning my back on America or violating my oath. Let me tell you what I believe as a Black woman, as a daughter of Englewood and Austin, and as a proud American: The most patriotic thing you can do in this country is to use your voice, your vote and, yes, your public office to protest your government when it is wrong."

She is not even close to right. Bonds fund all of government spending including Federal payments to all the states (Illinois included).

MCE is right. Protest government when it is wrong. A good place to start is Mayor Brandon Johnson’s’ office conveniently located in the same building where she is officed!

She is a fool who will hurt no one but Chicagoans. Maybe she doesn’t know that she is still in America.

Does she think Trump knows or gives a damn about her or her policy? Is Trump going to change because of her? Is she taking money out of Trump’s pocket or budget? Are the stock markets or financial markets at risk because of her? The only thing she’s doing is putting Chicago’s investment portfolio at risk.

Great idea. Trumps already pissed at Chicago and Illinois so let’s poke the bear further and cut off more fed funds . Another dumb democrat

So, as a BLACK woman , a resident of a once nice, now horrendous, neighborhood and lastly, of course, an American she will toe the Bad Orange Man line at detriment to everyone else. Dem logic in full overdrive.

Search Assist – In fiscal year 2022, Chicago received approximately $48.8 billion in federal funding, which accounted for about 36.3% of its overall budget. This funding supports various programs, including infrastructure, education, and public welfare.

Ironically, over 30% of the money she ‘invests’ comes from the entity she wishes to not support…

Fine, take it all away then, give her & the (D)’s what they want…
