Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Mayor Johnson has army of 150 CPD cops on his personal protection detail. He doesn’t “see” street-crime. He doesn’t acknowledge street-crime. He doesn’t read CWB blog, Wirepoints blog, or Second City Cop Blog, thinks “fear of street-crime” is another version of white-privilege. For Mayor Johnson and his crew, “street-crime” isn’t worthy of Johnson Administration’s attention. Nope, he’s too busy attending to “my black people” issues, which apparently excludes retail theft, car-theft, property-theft and personal assault crimes.
