Chicago’s latest COVID-19 surge is subsiding. What happens next? – WBEZ (Chicago)

“I could imagine something where when respiratory viruses of whatever kind are surging, there’s a recommendation for people with certain underlying conditions to wear masks in certain settings,” Dr. Allison Arwady said. She went on to allude to making other restrictions more flexible in the future, like requiring proof of vaccination for non-essential activities only when surges emerge.

Fifty two paragraphs and no mention of treatment. When articles start talking about treatments instead of masks and vaccinating then we’ll know we’ve turned the corner. Until then continue with the fear and control measures.

In this article, the author repeatedly refers to ‘experts’. At this point, I do not think that the media understands what an ‘expert’ is. Experts are not born, they are made. Experts are not deemed, they are demonstrated. Experts don’t put blinders on and ignore or demonize information that is contrary to their ‘expert’ opinion, yet that is what we have seen through this whole ordeal and others. Experts demonstrate their prowess by being correct in their expert opinions. They get it right. They don’t guess. They don exaggerate. They don’t flip flop between their opinions without being rightly tagged… Read more »

Railroader, I could not agree more. I considered even taking this article down for that reason, and there is nothing really newsworthy in it as I see it, but we don’t want to start engaging in the censorship like the other guys do. COVID has exposed not just the medical establishment but much of the “expert” world as full of shit.

“Yep, the CV19 will likely get you sick, but the odds of it killing you? Virtually nil, unless you are old or otherwise afflicted by a long list of comorbidities.” There’s a lot of people with commodities and you can’t just write them off that easily. COVID-19 can trash your lungs for pretty good too even if you’re in good health. It might not kill you but it can definitely mess up your life for a couple of weeks or longer. The experts have been wrong about everything because they’re not looking at science, they’re looking at politics, and the… Read more »

well, well, well an article from public radio that actually dares to say natural immunity is a thing, a truthful thing. Hopefully this is a sign that the real dangerous pandemic is ending, I’m not talking Covid, Im talking the pandemic of propaganda. Next thing you know they will be saying masks are ineffective and that the virus came from a lab! Oh boy Pritzker better get public radio back on the propaganda bandwagon. For two years all we’ve heard about natural immunity is that it somehow doesn’t apply to this virus, jeez, was that a big lie? 😉

I can imagine a day when our public health officials are not diversity hires and follow actual science, not political mandates from their DNC bosses.

Diversity hires are more like exclusionary hires: They hire everyone except otherwise qualified and competent white men because equity or something.

Allison, please, go away. You have failed. Failed at being honest. Failed at applying the principles of science. Failed at being able to balance the health and well being of our WHOLE city versus those who might be more impacted. Failed by every measure.

As it pertains to the moron who made the comment regarding COVID and infection, well, much of the data suggests Omicron is hitting the vaxxed… One can only hope KARMA finds you…

So what she’s saying is that mitigations will never go away until residents demand they go away…but when people like this woman believe, ““If they’re unvaccinated they deserve [to get COVID],” she said. “It sounds heartless but I really don’t [feel bad] because they have a choice and they’re choosing to get sick..” then these people want to live like this. Apparently the slimebag who made this comment works in healthcare! How many people have died as a result of her covid misinformation?

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
