After she was fired from NBC Chicago in 2007, Jacobson moved into a radio career, eventually settling in as co-host alongside Dan Proft. The two enjoyed success as one of Chicago's most conservative radio programs, routinely slamming Illinois leaders, including President Barack Obama and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker.
Radio is dying. The value of radio stations is plummeting. Their audience is dying. Young people don’t listen to radio.

Dan Proft – would have made a great governor, a very very smart guy.

Didn’t know this guy or the show. Turned them on this AM to check it out. Profit is arguing with a call in guy about fireworks in Illinois. Profit thinks it is part of our freedom…the caller is pointing out that they are dangerous and some people go way over board, buy professional grade explosives and hurt people. The caller got a little heated (because he said he was a professional who does shows for navy pier and other places) and Profit cut him off and went on with his sparklers and bottle rockets rant. 15 minutes of my life… Read more »
Actually, Dan Proft, the regular co-host of AM 560’s “Chicago’s Morning Answer,” is on vacation this week. This morning (July 3, 2025) it was his fill-in, radio personality Chris Krok, whom you heard arguing with the anti-consumer-fireworks caller. Amy Jacobson and Proft made a good team, and I agree with commenter “Nk”: big mistake letting Amy go. I’ve been listening to Proft/Jacobson for several years, and appreciate Proft’s insights on, and personal experience with, Illinois and Chicago politics. (Proft ran for Illinois governor in the 2010 Republican primary.) A lot of the guests he brings in are quite good, offering… Read more »

Big mistake letting Amy Jacobson go . She could hold her own against Proft . People will turn to 890 in the morning now.
Disagree. I’ve listened regularly since 2010. Dan Proft is the cornerstone of that program, thought-provoking, principled, and deeply, broadly, well-informed. Amy Jacobson was the annoying, emotive foil; more distracting than informative. And her penchant for cutting speakers off or talking over them, Dan included, was quite infuriating.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

Proft is not the host today….it’s a filler from a sister station Chris Croc (sic)

Amy was the only thing keeping this station tethered to an ounce of reality. A HUGE loss.
