Chicago’s Peacekeepers: The Devil You Don’t Know – Chicago Contrarian

Throughout Chicago, numerous “non-violence” groups — Cure Violence, Chicago CRED, ALSO, Institute for Nonviolence Chicago, UCAN, among others — accept millions in funding from the federal and state governments and the City of Chicago to accomplish their goal of reducing violence. Contrary to the mayor’s assertions of success, CPD officers say many of the peacekeepers accept the paid positions, return to the streets, and resume gang activity.

“Peacekeeper”, another job for unskilled otherwise unemployable ex-cons who otherwise would be unfit for private-sector employment, allowing them to retain their gangbanging skills while achieving middle-income wage-status at taxpayers expense. Just another government-subsidized scam.

“ Peacekeepers “ throwing gang signs is a bit disconcerting. Are we surprised after we find out Cabrini Kim had staff that were advising felons on how to sue the police for wrongful arrest? CHI/ Cook County/ IL is a criminals paradise and an ugly, vicious cesspool for victims.

Anecdotal and cherry-picked evidence. What do overall numbers say? Is this a widespread problem or isolated incidents?

Perhaps these violence interrupting organizations should be subject to a court ordered consent decree, like the Chicago Police Department, to insure they are meeting their legal responsibilities with the taxpayer money they get.

Good article. Love the title of this article.
Chicago is such a pro-crime city. Imagine getting paid to interfere with police work… and then to also engage in illegal and/or violent activities while being a so-called peacekeeper.
CWB Chicago has had articles featuring peacekeepers who were still criminals so no surprise.
Just boggles the mind.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
