Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. These celebrated thespians are grief stricken that their propaganda program is not as popular as it once was. After all, they’ve taken a solemn oath to “enlighten” the citizenry of the need to get with the progressive policies and embrace the make believe alphabet soup gang. The would be wokesters counted on a longer lead time before they were figured out. Crash and burn for all I care weirdos.
I once read a comment on another website, so this is not my own idea, but the commenter claimed he/she was very familiar with the industry, and while I’m paraphrasing, the commenter said that:
Modern theater exists for one and only reason: to reaffirm the progressive values of its ticket holders. That’s it. There’s no other reason people go to the theater. They have long been woke, and was woke well before 2020’s attendance drop off. Story telling is secondary to making patrons feel good about and reaffirm their progressive values.
