Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Once upon a time a local politicians stuck to local problems and stayed out of foreign policy.

Kinda crazy that the New Right and the Progressive Caucus are both anti-war. That’s about the only common ground between the two.
It sure is. Of course, those progressives immediately turned tail and ran as soon as the Dem establishment heard about it. There is no dissent within the Dem party because none is allowed. Think about it. Nothing. But lots of things are fought about within the Republican Party — Ukraine, Trump haters vs Trumpers, Mitch McConnell haters, lots of fights over what to do about big tech and antitrust, split votes on the federal bailout measures and everything else that “RINO” haters would call out.
Seems the Republicans have a healthier dynamic – Dems are like the Stepford Wives.
