Normal City Manager Pam Reece said there's no sign so far lawmakers would try to use revenue that goes to municipalities to help plug a $3.2 billion hole in the state budget. In the past, lawmakers and governors have sometimes eyed municipal income tax and sales tax sharing money during tight fiscal times.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
