City of Chicago rejects permits for activists to protest DNC – FOX32 (Chicago)

The coalition whose permit was rejected includes groups like Chicago for Abortion Rights, Stop Trans Genocide, Gay Liberation Network, Reproductive Transparency Now! and more. The groups say, for years, Democrats have taken voters who care about reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights for granted.

Why do they need a permit? Did BLM rioters get a permit? Did proHamas demonstrators who closed down streets have permits?

DNC is going to be massive riots, violence and destruction that will make 1968 look like a hugfest. Unlike 1968 national media will suppress the truth and present a “fiery buy mostly peaceful” event. Chicago Police will do nothing to interfere because if an officer does enforce the law they will be suspended and may lose their job. Thats what ‘hostile defund the police’ leads to, So……like Mayor Daley 1 said, CPD will be there to preserve disorder.

What made the news in ’68 was not just the protests themselves but the police crackdown on the protests that resulted in even some journalists getting arrested. (Wasn’t Dan Rather or John Chancellor or some other network news reporter actually carted off the convention floor by the CPD? I was only 4 years old at the time so I don’t recall…)

Notice how the story doesn’t explain WHY the permit was rejected. And people wonder why the journalism industry needs a government bailout….

The defund the police movement is going to come home to roost at the convention. At best the police will stand by and watch whatever groups decide to protest, and protesters won’t be bothered by not getting permits. At worst, the police won’t show up at all. I think it will be a very interesting time. Throw in some really hot weather and everything gets amped up a little.

Totally agree, this is not going to be a repeat of 1968.

Since when do you need a permit to protest? If 2020 taught us anything it’s if your going to protest make it fiery but mostly peaceful. Can’t wait to watch the DNC clown show!

Hypocrites. Chicago City Hall tolerates weeks of pop-up pro-Palestinian protests which block city streets and highways, allow these protestors to shout hateful racist-genocidal slogans against Jews, to repeatedly disrupt daily life for other law-abiding Chicagoans. And yet “freedom of speech” must be absolutely squashed for DNC protestors.

Yup, DNC committee is wrong-footed from get go. Party of authoritarians, the mind-police, either you’re with them or you’re shut-up.

Stop giving the clowns more credit than they deserve. Nobody cares about permits. We all know this convention is going to be a disaster.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
