City signs $29.3 million contract to build ‘winterized base camps’ for migrants – Chicago Sun-Times

Aerial photo of an example of the kind of structures that could be used in a migrant camp in Chicago. The contract mentions no specific sites for the base camps, and none has been chosen, according to mayoral press secretary Ronnie Reese. In fact, the only specific site mentioned so far — 115th and Halsted streets — has faced opposition from local residents. The contract also includes no specific timetable for erecting the tent cities.

once again, tons of room/facilities ready to go with minor fix up in closed or barely used CPS schools in mostly black (dis-invested)communities…but obviously CTU/Brandon won’t go there.

How about a nice 1979 (or ’67) January snowstorm to introduce the tented migrants to the fascinating winters in Chicago. ATTN: shovelers wanted. $100 an hour. No experience needed. Apply City Hall c/o Big Johnson.

If the illegal migrants are already complaining about their accommodations, wait until they get a taste of a Chicago winter while living in tents! And what about the environmental impact of these tent cities? Why hasn’t Governor Carnival Barker stepped up and given these illegal migrants deluxe accommodations at Hyatt Hotels?

Simple …

Close the border.

Deport the invaders.

We have the capacity, but lack the political will to turn this travesty around.

Stupid chickens.

Remember the Japanese internment camps? Not exactly the same but did the border jumpers expect these base camps or were they promised much more when they paid their way to get to the U.S. Is this what they were expecting?

In the meantime, more tribes of Vandals, Alans and Suebi crossed the Rhine on December 31, 406, also looking for a better life in the Roman Empire. Suddenly there were millions of illegal immigrants flooding the empire all looking to take what the Romans had and… Read more »

That was quick. Bids were advertised for how long? Lowest bidder or highest politically connected vendor?

There is a price on this contract.

There are no details on the size and locations of these tent cities?

Mayor Brandon knows exactly where these tents will be located and how large they will be.

The devil is in the details…

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
