The deal to lease the land at 38th Street and California Avenue was signed Oct. 26, according to a copy of the lease agreement — before an environmental assessment of the former industrial site was completed. Local Ald. Julia Ramirez said the deal was reached behind her back and without the community’s knowledge, leaving her “disappointed in the administration’s lack of transparency.”
Ah, yes. She’s “disappointed by the admin’s lack of transparency”. Codespeak for she didn’t get as much out of this backroom deal as she thought she would. So this is how she can let the oligarchs know while keeping her constituents believing that she’s still working for them.

Water, Sewer, Electric, Gas, Internet hookups? WTF is going on here?
The city is building the infrastructure for future shanty towns aka Bidenvilles. The surrounding neighborhoods will become decrepit as the shanty town slowly expands as people flee the refugee camp around the corner. And as we’ve learned from refugee camps, they tend to stay there for years, decades even. They’re not going anywhere.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
