Columbus Day rally held calling for city to bring back removed statue – WGNTV (Chicago)

Mayor Lori Lightfoot tweeted Monday morning saying, “In Chicago, we have committed to reimagining how statues—symbols of our history and sometimes reminders of atrocities—live in our public spaces. As I have said, these statues must represent all who make up our history, especially women and people of color.”

I can’t stop crying about my beloved Chris Columbus. He was such a good man. He should be a saint. I pray to Chris Columbus daily. You should to.

Any truth to the rumor the statues will be replaced by one of Grady and Beetlejuice?

Columbus didn’t discover America. Columbus never even set foot in North America. Columbus never accomplished his goal of sailing around the world. Columbus didn’t prove the earth was round either. Just what are we celebrating with his statue?

Columbus ate people because he was hungry. He liked looking at men too.

Soon the only ‘history’ Chicago will have is that of violence and intolerance. I suggest the Columbus statue be replaced with a looter throwing a brick.

Meanwhile….since appeasing the flakes and wackos on the left by removing the Columbus statue….the geniuses on the left decided now to vandalize the Chicago Blackhawks monuments with #landback. It never ends with the stupidity.

Replace Columbus with a Statue of Jeffery Epstein.
Columbus was one of the worst men in history in many ways.

The statues are long gone. They will never return. Lori, Sophia King , the Grant Park advisory council and the progressive and socialist caucus have made it totally clear that they will give into the blm domestic terrorist Marxist organization who threatened and extorted to get the statues removed. Lori only wants statues of women and people of color. She is a total racist discriminating against what white people want.

Then, you won’t even try. Frank Annunzio, Marty Russo, Aldo DeAngelis and John D’Arco would be so disappointed in you. Your boy, Christopher Columbus is crying right now. ☹️?

True believer, no, that’s what you are. The Italian American politicians all supported Columbus, especially Frank Annunzio. ?

Try winning some elections, before you criticize others. ?

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
