Jim Dey: "The Illinois Times summed up the issue in a headline: 'Law intended to help people of color charged with minor crimes may lead to Sean Grayson’s pretrial release.' The law, of course, is supposed to be applied equally to all citizens. But lawyers are expert in putting undue weight on extraneous factors."
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
