Commentary: An uptick in robberies has made Chicagoans feel unsafe. Drop the politics and take action. – Chicago Tribune*

"Many of our local representatives have simply echoed a common theme — a focus on fighting the root causes of crime. We all agree that this must be done and are supportive of those efforts. However, what we desperately need are clear actions, not a discussion of old thoughts and ideas that at best will take years, if not decades, to make any difference...Despite the chaos that surrounds us, the current mayoral administration and like-minded down-ballot aldermen offer no actionable plan. They recite rhetoric, they have catchphrases, they speak noble words."

One of the root causes of crime is criminals not being afraid of any consequences for their actions. And until we return to sane policies that lock up criminals for extended periods of time, not one single thing will change.

White Supremacy is wanting to live in a low crime, high trust society, and your equity loving politicians won’t allow that, you live in their world now, deplorable: “When we [Chicago Tribune] brought up the now-pervasive fear of violent crime in Chicago during our conversation, and the possible impact of legislation eliminating cash bail, Preckwinkle made the point that residents in more affluent neighborhoods are now getting a taste of what it has been like to live in the Chicago ZIP codes that have heard gunfire and feared carjackings for years. Leaders like this are the reason why your leaders don’t care to lower crime, or keep criminals in jail, and why things only seem to be getting worse every day. Toni P is 74 years old and she just wants to burn it all down to the ground.

I guess the new normal is for pols to stay in office until they die or get voted out. Preckwinkle could have 25 or more years left in office.

Yes. Toni had 77% of the City vote and 67% of all votes countywide lat year. She owns the County. She is essentially Imperial Board President. She is the Cook County Democrat Party president too. She’s 76 years old, my bad she’ not 74, and will never lessen her iron fisted grip on power. Keep in mind, she’ ruled Cook County 2010 and has held office longer than Stroger, who controlled the board with an iron fist for only 12 years.
