Commentary: By housing migrants at park facilities, Mayor Johnson has abandoned campaign promises to youths – Chicago Tribune*

"The city’s ham-handed, top-down approach should serve as a warning to all Chicagoans. With the shutdown of the vibrant Broadway Armory Park — on the heels of the closures of the Gage Park and Piotrowski Park field houses — the city’s migrant housing policy has entered a new stage, pitting the need for temporary shelter for asylum-seekers against the need for Chicago Park District facilities serving the city’s most vulnerable...(C)ity officials were unwilling to say just how long the 'temporary' shelter might be in place. But the prospect of years seems possible."

“Equal treatment under the law” should be presented in court as challenge to these new prioritized benefits granted only to “recently-arrived migrants”. How is it constitutional for city government to grant $15,000 housing vouchers to “migrants”, but not to its legitimate US citizens who are established residents of Chicago? How is it constitutional to seize Park District facilities, programed for recreational and educational uses, to house “migrants” instead? Tough luck folks, but you voted for this useless sack of potatoes. The man is a blathering idiot that can’t manage his own credit. He was never capable of dealing with the tough issues, and he never will be.

I am sure somehow it is Trump or Rauner’s fault. It can’t be Biden’s, Pritzker’s or Lightfoot’s fault because they are Democrats

“New arrivals” is woke-speak for illegal aliens. You can count on the Trib to use politically correct gobbledygook.

As expected, POCs, seniors, CITIZENS, are pushed aside and the resources they are entitled to are being squandered on illegals.

How far will he push the CITIZENS of Chicago? And what standards is the administration applying when choosing neighborhoods to target?

Mayor Johnson’s campaign promises? Forget-about-it!

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
