Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

How about requiring some of these units be right next to Marisa Novara’s residence?. She is the fool who wants to put criminals next to decent people.
So, the cities going to subsidize housing for people w violent records, chronic drug dealers & sex offenders? Who the hell wants to live next to that? Currently the city/cpd can’t even register the sex offenders? ‘Tis racist for not wanting to live in an enriched and vibrant neighborhood replete with registered sex offenders, parolees, homeless and drug addicts. Check your privilege at the door and show some respect for the cultural values & mores of poor folx who just want to live like they do where you do.
