Commentary: Mayor Brandon Johnson appears to be learning as he goes – Chicago Tribune*

David Greising, of the Better Government Association: "Johnson has shown a willingness to change gears, which is appealing in its way. But the need for him to do so twice in as many weeks also is likely a warning that the upfront work he and his staff are doing is not where it needs to be."

He must be the slow learner in class. The one that takes up most of the teachers time and effort thus neglecting the other students.

After his four years in office, BJ, like Lightfoot, will say he needs just four more years for his programs to really kick in. And the beat goes on.

Learning as he goes, unlike a CPS student.

Brandon Johnson is precisely the mayor Chicago deserves. Like I’ve been saying for years, this is how Brandon voters want to live. They are, for the most part, completely dysfunctional themselves in their own lives, and/or hold irrational and conflicting policy positions, and this is what happens when they vote. Pundit and talk show radio host Jesse Kelly @JesseKellyDC summed it up nicely today on X: “Talked to a Democrat woman from Chicago last night who proudly proclaimed she voted for Brandon Johnson. Someone at the table asked her about the crime and on my life she said, “Well, you… Read more »

The point is, it’s their Plantation and as long they get to run it they will take the bad. I predict the illegal aliens will cause angst as they move onto the Plantation.

Hey downvoter, care to add your wisdom on what is going to fix any single problem in the city? Afraid of being fact checked? Don’t be shy. Tell us about your optimism.

They’re delusional because they’re too busy looking in rearview mirror to understand what comes ahead. They’d be wise to look at their parents generation, from the late 60’s to the late 70’s, when many formerly safe city neighborhoods quickly transitioned into crime ridden hellholes, to understand where things are heading. But they’ll naively believe things are different this time….

Brandon Johnson is totally inadequate for the job … he proves it weekly.

His rhetoric is absolute nonsense. Does he take lessons from Ms. Harris?

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
