A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
I live on Sheridan Road in Winnetka and work in my yard often. Based on my observations, the Pace busses must run about 98% empty, either way, going north or south. The most frequent number of riders I see is zero – never seen more than 5 riders. The solution appears to be to add more buses and increase the frequency.
Pace ridership is so low, they basically run for the benefit of the operating crews.
Amazing. A voice of reason regarding the CTA. Naturally, this voice comes, not from the ranks of the unhinged socialist Trib writers and editors, but from a free-market advocacy group member. The RTA’s operating arms needed to right size during the pandemic insanity. They didn’t, and the bill is due.
