Commentary: Why I won’t be teaching in CPS anymore – Chicago Tribune

Although I loved my work, I had a longing to live elsewhere. I grew up in Lockport, a small suburb near Joliet. After having my own children, I longed for a similar atmosphere, but one simple rule kept me from moving away — Chicago and the Board of Education’s residency rule that requires teachers to live in Chicago. Every other large school district in America has ended its residency requirement due to teacher shortages; every single one, except Chicago.

“My position, a high school library media specialist, is also a luxury. ”

Hahahaha, she’d be walking dogs if she didn’t have a government job. And furthermore, her complaint that only 1 in 4 schools even has a librarian rings hollow when CPS actively encourages illegal immigrants to attend their schools, leeching resources so desperately needed by other native born students.

Progressives really are the worst people in the world.

A statewide concern: Illinois’ population decline outpaces neighboring states – Wirepoints on ABC20 Champaign

“We are not in good shape” Wirepoints’ Ted Dabrowski told ABC 20 Champaign during a segment on Illinois’ latest population losses. Illinois was one of just three states to shrink in the 2010-2020 period and has lost another 300,000 people since then. Ted says things need to change. “It’s too expensive to live here, there aren’t enough good jobs and nobody trusts the government anymore. There’s just other places to go where you can be more satisfied.”
