Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. District 7 in Edwardsville recently installed Co-Ed, or is it “gender neutral” bathrooms at large expense. Can we assume now that it will be a large expense to return the bathrooms to their former self? Illinois has so much money to waste on this silliness instead of putting it in the classrooms where it is needed.

This is a fairly big news story around the country in conservative circles, and as Democrat policy makers often lament, the rightwing news eco-system is large and entirely outside of the control of legacy media. It really makes no difference at all that legacy media (ABC/NBC/CBS) has ignored this story because every podcaster, pundit, major and minor conservative website and fox news IS talking about it.
