Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. This is why Wisconsin can build 10 miles of road for what it costs Illinois to build just 1 mile. I need some 2×4’s and a bunch of conduit, gotta get on my bicycle over to Home Depot now. Roads and cars are no longer a “first world” thing, the poorest of countries use them. Working class people especially need roads and cars, they don’t have the luxury of working from home. What the hell are these people talking about? If you want to come near death drive on I80 west from about US30 to just past Joliet. Talk about… Read more »
Bidens new tariffs on Canadian lumber will fix it…uh wont it?
Low cc motorcycles, motorbikes and rickshaws are popular methods of travel in third world countries where cars are expensive and there’s already too much congestion. Dress warm and wear a helmet, lots of accidents during ice and snow months!

The proposal would encourage more driving and less “walking and biking”? Are they serious? No one says — hey, the state added an additional lane on the expressway, I think I’ll now drive to work rather than walk or ride my bike 20 miles to work.
Walking and biking are great ways to get around if you live in the city. But if you don’t live within walking distance to your job, grocery stores, your children’s schools, you need improved roadways, not bike lanes.
All the people leaving should alleviate the congestion
Streetsblog Chicago Has An Embarrassing Hysterical Hissy-Fit — After Chicago’s Gas Giveaway Funded By Black Businessman/Political Candidate Willie Wilson — Streetsblog’s Sloppy So-Called Satire Argues That Wilson Should Have Paid For Free CTA Rides Instead – Chicago Streetsblog — Aside From The Second Grade, Remedial English Level Of Writing — And The Total Misunderstanding Of ‘Satire’ — Streetsblog (As Usual) Misses The Entire Point — NOW THAT CTA BUSES AND TRAINS ARE CRIME-INFESTED, PISS AND SHIT COVERED HELLHOLES, YOU COULDN’T PAY PEOPLE ENOUGH TO RIDE CTA
The only roads that deserve fixing in Illinois are the ones used to move to another state.
Illinois Is Getting Federal Dollars To Fix/Improve State’s Deteriorating Roads And Bridges — But Illinois Congressional Democrats — Out-Of-Touch, Far-Left-Wingnuts, Race-Hustling Frauds, Crackpot-Car-Haters, And Tinfoil-Hat-Transit-Extinction Deniers — Want To Steal/Divert Those Federal Dollars For: (1) Social Justice Horseshit Nonsense Grift; (2) Pedal Privilege Path Bike Boondoggles; And (3) Crime/Chaos Ridden Transit That Riders Have Lefts For Good, In Favor Of Driving And Remote Work
I don’t see anything practical in their resolutions. Just a bunch of high minded utopian ideas. What are your actual proposals for traffic congestion?

JB loves the ground breaking and ribbon cutting ceremonies. It gives him a chance to hold a shovel for the first time in his life. He had heard about shovels as a young silver spoon child, but he had never had a chance to play with one. Sorry Chuy, he’s not going to give up on building stuff now.
Most people I know don’t go near the Loop, Mag Mile or River North anymore because of crime, high costs to park and the expressway congestion / time suck. Don’t improve the driving experience and you give us reason to continue staying away. Can’t ride the CTA (blue line) as the D’s have turned that into a very poor experience. The el cars and stations are filthy and graffitied up. I would be considered nuts to place my wife in such a poor and high risk environment. All Chuy and his ilk are doing is trying to direct the funds… Read more »
