The Chicago Teachers union doesn’t just want 9% annual raises, they want that and even more – Wirepoints on The Shaun Thompson Show
Ted joined Shaun Thompson to talk about about the Chicago Teachers Union’s absurd new contract demands, why so many Chicago teachers are chronically absent, and Brandon Johnson’s failed first year as mayor.
Any Social Security adjustments should be accompanied by appropriate employer and employee contributions and there should be no “pick up” arrangements so that government puts in money that should come out of the employee’s pay. Also, interest should be added to compensate the System for delay in making those contributions. And don’t lose track of Medicare or we’ll see additional double dipping. If the federal government wants to “fix” something that government should ask for something in return such as an end to double dipping and career-end salary escalations, etc. Finally, this should not just be a bailout for states… Read more »
If a worker pays into SS that worker should receive the full benefit. Period. Fair is fair – if you’re required to contribute, the government should be required to issue benefits without prejudice. . What fries my bananas is the policy that benefits individuals who receive monthly stipends without proper vetting … aka fraud. There is too much fraud in all these government programs – hire a cadre of private investigators and watch the benefit rolls dwindle. The cost for the PIs would be easily offset by the fraud eliminated. There’s no political will to fix the problems the politicians… Read more »
Only public union employees get to demand that.
Ok. Agreed. In exchange, the maximum household gross payout from any public pension is $100k for the next ten years. Then it goes to $105k for the next five.
That’s right, if you have two public pensioners, the max they both get is $100k.
No more $250k public pensions. Ever.
So people who have worked other jobs other than govt ones should have their social security taken away from them? Automatic 60%reduction in SS if you get a govt pension. Why, people worked jobs, paid into SS and only want what’s coming to them. So let’s say you’re a union carpenter etc and get a pension, should you lose your SS benefit? Previous jobs prior to govt job part time jobs, after retirement jobs and you lose SS just because. BULLSHITE!
Guess what boomer Myself and my wife paid into ss all are lives and we will never draw ss monies because railroad retirement is greater than ss so all that money is long gone to bad now I can say BULLSHIT
No. The household limit of $100k per year only applies to public pensions. These retirees still collect SS as well as any other retirement benefits.
There is no excuse for public pensioners receiving more than nearly all public and private employees make in a year as a retiree. That’s insane.
It’s called no more double dipping railroad retirement did away with this benefit many many years ago.
Correct.
